Breeding programmes are a vital part of our activity here at the London Aquarium. We aim to help keep and breed populations of fish that have become extinct in the wild or are endangered. Our long term objective is to eventually reintroduce species back into their natural habitiat.
At the London Aquarium we have been involved with a wide variety of breeding programmes such as:

Clownfish
Peppermint shrimps
Neon gobies
Barbs
Warf gouramis
Pipefish
Jellyfish
Green chromides
Damsels
Native rays
Dogfish

Species that need our help are listed in the IUCN (International Union for Natire Conservation) Red Data List. A key issue for aquatic creatures is the lack of data available, as only 10% of the 25,000 species of fish that exist have been assessed.
